The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the owner of Don Maserati Classic Boutique, located on Lagos Island, along with two others, following the circulation of a viral video that showed the brutal assault and molestation of a female employee accused of stealing from the boutique. The disturbing footage, which quickly spread online, depicted three men viciously flogging the female staff member with canes, allegedly under the direct orders of the boutique owner. The graphic nature of the video triggered an overwhelming public response, with many calling for immediate action against those involved in the attack.
The video, which was met with shock and anger, led to widespread outrage from both the public and advocacy groups, prompting the Lagos State Government and law enforcement to act swiftly. Authorities responded to the incident by launching an investigation and making arrests in connection with the assault. The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests and provided updates on the situation via a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
In his post, Hundeyin stated, “Three suspects have been arrested, while efforts are on to apprehend other suspects and establish contact with the victim. The Commissioner of Police, @LagosPoliceNG, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, assures Lagosians that justice will be served.” This confirmation came as the authorities continued their investigation, aiming to uncover all individuals involved in the assault and bring them to justice.
Although the victim’s identity has been kept undisclosed for her protection, advocacy groups have voiced their concerns and have called for her immediate rehabilitation and justice.
