Exhibiting their frustration and dissatisfaction over months of unpaid wages, civil servants in Abia State took a bold stance on Tuesday, locking the office of the Accountant-General.
These workers, stationed in Umuahia, the state's capital, asserted their determination to persist until their overdue salaries were released.
The demonstration unfolded at the Ministry of Finance office complex, where employees from various departments united to demand action.
In an unprecedented move, the workers blocked entrances leading to the office of Mrs. Njum Onyemenam, the Accountant-General.
A circulating online video showed the workers within the premises while the main gate remained secured.
A witness present during the protest shared, “All entrances leading to the Accountant-General’s office have been locked by the workers.”
