Mrs. Osunsanmi explained that she required the advice of the state’s director of public prosecutions before proceeding with the case. Consequently, she ordered that Nduka Kalu should be held in the Kirikiri custodial facility while awaiting this advice.
The charges against the defendant include defilement, as brought forward by the prosecutor, SP Raji Akeem. Akeem informed the court that the alleged offence took place on August 14 at Villa Hotel in Shasha, Lagos State. It is alleged that the defendant enticed a 14-year-old girl, whom he had met on Facebook, to the hotel under the guise of assisting her in pursuing her dreams of becoming a fashion model and actress. Regrettably, it is further alleged that the defendant sexually assaulted the minor during this encounter.
These allegations are in violation of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The chief magistrate has adjourned the case for mention on October 19, and the legal proceedings will continue accordingly.
