An Inspector [/b]named Ahmed Twumasi has been arrested by the Ghana [/b]Police Service on suspicion of killing his girlfriend Victoria Daapa, also known as Maa Adwoa, by shooting her at close range on April 20th, 2023 in Adum, Kumasi. Despite being married with children, Twumasi allegedly grew increasingly agitated after accusing the 27-year-old mother of one of being unfaithful to him, an accusation she denied.
Eyewitnesses reported that after kissing Maa Adwoa, the officer fired five shots, with the victim pleading with him to stop after the first two shots. Twumasi then fled the scene in a rickshaw. Daapa was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital [/b]but was declared dead upon arrival.
Twumasi had been on the run since the incident until his arrest at Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
In a statement released by the police on April 23rd, 2023, it was revealed that the suspect is currently in police custody and will be put before court to face justice.
According to Atakora, Maa Adwoa's father, his daughter had a boyfriend, a footballer, with whom she had a baby girl. He expressed shock at the police officer's actions, stating that he was not aware of Twumasi's relationship with his child. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice for the victim.
