A tragic incident occurred in the Yenizue-Epie community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, as a keke driver was lynched to death after he stabbed a young man named Douglas Joseph, 30, to death over N50.
According to reports, the passenger who was stabbed by the keke driver, Douglas Joseph, was a native of the community and a father of three. The incident occurred after the keke driver charged the passenger a fare of N150 which was supposed to be N100. The passenger, Douglas, did not agree to pay the fare, and this led to a fight between both of them.[/
According to an eyewitness, "He said he was coming from Opolo community to Kpansia, which was supposed to be N100, but the Keke rider insisted on collecting N150. As we were separating them, we saw the Keke rider bring out a dagger. We thought it was just to scare the youth. But he stabbed him on his lap, and the young man fell to the ground. People prevented the keke driver from running away. Unfortunately, the wounded victim died."
Following the death of the passenger, "the Keke rider was lynched by a mob that hit him with different objects", the eyewitness added.
