Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has vowed to do everything possible to prevent Manchester City from winning the treble this season. Manchester United will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final after defeating Brighton on penalties on Sunday, April 23rd.
Erik ten Hag spoke to reporters after the match and said, "I understand the feeling from the Man United fans about it. We will do everything to give them that. We will give everything, then it is everything. More than 100 per cent you can’t do. The fans can rely on that."
The Manchester United manager acknowledged that they have the proof that they can compete with Manchester City, referencing their 2-1 win at Old Trafford earlier in the season. He went on to say that they will need to play the perfect game in order to emerge victorious in the final, but he didn't reveal any specific strategies or tactics that they might employ to achieve this goal. "The key? I don’t tell you. I keep that for myself," he said.
However, before they can focus on the FA Cup final, Manchester United must first concentrate on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League. "We have to go again. First of all you have to focus on different games, we have to be in the top four," ten Hag said.
Manchester City are currently on course for a historic quadruple, having already won the Carabao Cup and established a commanding lead in the Premier League. However, Manchester United will be hoping to upset the odds and deny their local rivals a clean sweep of domestic trophies.
