The Portuguese coach, who is known for his no-nonsense approach, stated that he would rather include his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, as a substitute in place of the underperforming forward.

Rashford was once again excluded from the squad during United’s 1-0 win against Fulham, which was secured by Lisandro Martinez’s deflected second-half strike. The exclusion comes as a part of a growing pattern, with Rashford’s absence from the team sparking further questions about his commitment to the club.

Amorim didn’t hold back when explaining Rashford’s continued absence from the squad, pointing to a lack of professionalism in his approach to training. He emphasized that he would not tolerate a lack of effort and that his decisions are based on the commitment players show during training sessions.

“I’d put Vital on the bench before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day. I won’t compromise on that,” Amorim said. “It’s always about the same reason—training. If you don’t give your all in training and live the way a professional footballer should, you won’t make the squad. It’s the same for everyone.”

Rashford, who hasn’t featured in a match since December 12 in United’s win over Viktoria Plzen, has reportedly attracted loan interest from top clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, and AC Milan. Despite these options, sources close to the player suggest that Rashford would prefer a move to Barcelona, further complicating his future with Manchester United.
