Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has provided a positive update on the condition of Ronald Araujo following the club’s impressive 4-1 victory over Sevilla at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday.
The Uruguayan center-back suffered an injury and had to be substituted in the 22nd minute of the match, sparking concerns among Barcelona fans regarding the severity of his condition. However, Flick remains hopeful that the injury is not serious and is awaiting further medical assessments.
Speaking after the game, Flick addressed the situation, stating, “We expect test results tomorrow (Monday) and hope it’s not too serious. That’s what it looks like right now.”
The medical examinations scheduled for Monday will determine the extent of Araujo’s injury, but early reports suggest that he may miss at least a short spell of action. As a result, the defender is expected to be unavailable for Barcelona’s upcoming home fixture against Rayo Vallecano on February 17.
In his absence, Eric Garcia, who replaced Araujo against Sevilla and made an impact by scoring a late goal, is likely to step up as a defensive option for Flick.
Despite Araujo’s injury, Barcelona secured a crucial victory, taking advantage of the 1-1 draw in the Madrid derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
