Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has praised Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman following the winger’s outstanding performance during their match on Saturday.
The Super Eagles started their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with a commanding 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs in Uyo.
Lookman, who plays for Atalanta, delivered an impressive performance by scoring twice in the match.
His first goal came just before halftime, when he dribbled past three defenders to score Nigeria’s opener.

Lookman sealed the victory with a second goal, heading in Nigeria’s third with eight minutes remaining in the match.
In response to the game, Rohr commented, “I am not surprised by the result as I know the talent and potential of this team.”
He further stated, “They played with confidence and flair, and Ademola Lookman was unstoppable.” Rohr, who previously managed the Nigerian side, expressed his admiration for Lookman’s performance and the team’s overall display.
