Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham in a deal worth over €100m (£86m). According to The Athletic, the 19-year-old English footballer, who was previously linked to Manchester City and Liverpool, is set to undergo a medical with the Spanish club in the coming days.
The deal, which is expected to be one of the largest transfer fees in the histories of both clubs, is yet to be signed but is deemed a formality. Unlike Manchester City, Real Madrid has made significant progress in the negotiations, while City has not submitted offers or provided financial numbers to Dortmund or Bellingham regarding a transfer fee or salary.
Bellingham, who joined Dortmund from Birmingham for just over £20 million three years ago, has made over 130 appearances for the club. He has impressed in the Champions League and played a key role as Dortmund narrowly missed out on the Bundesliga title this season. Bellingham also earned his England debut after moving to Dortmund and was a regular starter for Gareth Southgate's side at the 2022 World Cup.
The talented midfielder, who has played the most minutes of any outfield player for Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season, will join a midfield at Real Madrid that already features Luka Modric, Fede Valverde, Toni Kroos, and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Former Real Madrid and Liverpool winger Steve McManaman believes that if Bellingham completes the move to the Bernabeu, he will be treated like a king. If the deal goes through, Bellingham will become the third most expensive teenager signed in football history, trailing only Joao Felix's £115 million move to Atletico Madrid and Kylian Mbappe's £130 million switch to Paris Saint-Germain. Additionally, he will become the most expensive English teenager in football history, surpassing Luke Shaw's £33.75 million transfer from Southampton to Manchester United in 2014.
Real Madrid has also set their sights on Bellingham's England teammate Harry Kane, with coach Carlo Ancelotti expressing his desire to sign the striker.
