The rape allegation against French football star Kylian Mbappe has been officially dismissed, as there was not enough evidence to support the claim. The Swedish prosecutor handling the case, Marina Chirakova, revealed the decision on Thursday, bringing an end to the investigation.
In a statement, Chirakova disclosed that after careful review, the evidence surrounding the alleged rape and sexual assault did not meet the necessary threshold for further legal action. She confirmed that the investigation into Mbappé's involvement had been closed due to insufficient grounds for pursuing the case.
“My assessment is that the evidence is not sufficient to proceed and the investigation is therefore closed,” said Chirakova, who added that the footballer was not officially notified of any criminal suspicion against him.
The case, which had attracted significant attention, has now been resolved with no charges or formal allegations made against the 25-year-old player. This decision brings relief to Mbappé, who has continued to maintain his innocence throughout the investigation.
