The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly set to impose disciplinary measures against Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
This follows Osimhen’s verbal criticism of former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.
During an Instagram Live session last weekend, Osimhen publicly lambasted George, who recently resigned, accusing him of omitting him from the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers squad due to injury.
“I’ve lost my respect for Finidi,” Osimhen declared, recounting his efforts to communicate his readiness to join the squad for matches against South Africa and Benin despite his injury.
According to Osimhen, George insisted that he stay with his family and focus on rehabilitation.
“I knew something like this would happen, I am not naive. Right after I did the MRI, the next day, the doctor called me and discussed my health condition with me,” Osimhen elaborated.
He claimed to have participated in a video call with the doctor and George, during which the doctor provided a detailed explanation of his injury.
“Whether what Finidi said about me is true or false, I have always given my best whether playing for my club or my country. I have been disrespected enough, and I cannot remain silent just because I am a footballer. I asked him to let me join the team, but he insisted I stay with my family,” added the Napoli forward.
While the NFF has yet to confirm its decision, sources indicate that discussions are underway regarding potential disciplinary actions against Osimhen for his statements.
