The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) is expressing strong confidence in the D'Tigress's ability to survive their challenging Olympic qualifiers group. The Nigeria senior female basketball team, known as D'Tigress, finds themselves in what's been termed the "group of death" for the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament.
In Group B, D'Tigress will compete against formidable opponents, including the United States of America, host nation Belgium, and African giants Senegal. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Belgium from February 8 to 11, 2024.
Maxwell Kumoye, a member of NBBF’s Media Committee and the Premier League Management Committee, expressed optimism about D'Tigress's chances. He cited their status as African champions and the blend of young and experienced players in the squad as factors that will contribute to their success during the qualifiers.
While acknowledging the challenges posed by Senegal and Belgium, Kumoye firmly believes that D'Tigress has what it takes to secure the Olympic ticket. It's worth noting that the reigning world champions, the United States team, have already secured an automatic ticket to the Olympics, leaving one slot available for the remaining teams in the group.
