Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal made a staggering €140m bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, which was promptly rejected by the Serie A club.
Despite recent links to Chelsea and Manchester United, Osimhen's potential move was deterred by Napoli's president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, who placed a price on the player that scared off Premier League clubs.
Al Hilal, the Saudi giants, are seeking a number nine after the departure of Odion Ighalo. They were willing to spend a hefty €300 million to acquire Kylian Mbappe, but the PSG star declined the offer.
Al Hilal's pursuit of high-profile signings this summer includes rejected bids for Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane. Now, they turned their attention to Victor Osimhen, offering €140m (N111bn), which was instantly turned down by Napoli, hoping the Nigerian star would sign a new contract with the club.
Osimhen, who wants to stay in Europe and loves playing for Napoli, was instrumental in their Serie A title win last season, scoring 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions.
Al Hilal has been actively adding star names to their squad this summer, securing signings like Malcom, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Kalidou Koulibaly.
