Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai has made history at Euro 2024, becoming the youngest captain in the tournament’s history.
Szoboszlai has captured headlines by breaking a 64-year-old record, beating stars like Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Harry Kane to it.
At 23 years, seven months, and 21 days, he leads Hungary in their opener against Switzerland in Cologne.
Szoboszlai was appointed captain by Hungary head coach Marco Rossi in November 2022, and has since inspired his team to qualify for Euro 2024.
Hungary enters the tournament with confidence, having recently completed a 14-match unbeaten streak, which ended with a narrow loss to the Republic of Ireland.
However, they bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Israel in a friendly last Saturday.
Meanwhile, a win against Switzerland would put Hungary in a strong position to advance to the knockout stages of the competition.
