Liverpool is reportedly holding talks with PSG for a one-year loan deal to sign Kylian Mbappe. The French champions are upset with Mbappe for rejecting talks with Al Hilal after accepting a £259 million bid. There are fears he might join Real Madrid for free in a year. Liverpool is encouraged by Mbappe's respect for the club, and his mother, who is also his agent, is a Liverpool fan. PSG has informed Real Madrid they would have to pay around €250m to sign Mbappe this summer. PSG's president confirmed plans to sell Mbappe after he refused to sign a new contract. Mbappe was close to joining Liverpool before joining PSG in 2017, and they are hopeful of landing him with the support of sponsors like Nike.

‘My position is very clear. I don’t want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract.
‘We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, we can’t do that. This is a French club. He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it’s not my fault. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, that’s very clear.’
Mbappe was close to heading to Anfield before joining PSG from Monaco back in 2017 and L’Equipe claimed previously that he held a two-hour meeting with Reds owner John W Henry on his private jet.
They reported that Henry attempted to win over Mbappe and his family in early 2017 by flying his private jet to Monaco and inviting them on board. They are said to have flown over the bay of Nice and its surroundings for two hours as they discussed his future before the Reds eventually missed out.
The support of Nike, Mbappe, and Liverpool’s major sponsors, could give them an increased chance of landing the striker if he decides to move on.
