Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante is reportedly on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge after seven seasons. Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Pro League club, has made a substantial offer to acquire the French footballer. Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that emissaries from Saudi Arabia were in London on June 6 to discuss the potential transfer. Initially, it seemed likely that Kante would extend his contract with Chelsea, as his representatives had expressed their desire for him to continue his career in London. However, Chelsea decided against renewing the 32-year-old's contract, which expires this month, due to concerns about his injury record in recent seasons.

According to Romano, Kante is set to join Al-Ittihad on a free transfer and will join fellow former France international Karim Benzema at the Saudi club. The final details of the deal are currently being discussed, and it is expected that the proposal will be accepted. The contract offered to Kante is reported to be worth €100 million per year until 2025.

It is worth noting that Saudi clubs have shown interest in other high-profile players as well. Lionel Messi has reportedly been offered over £350 million per year by Al-Hilal, while Sergio Busquets, who recently left Barcelona, is also being pursued by Saudi clubs. Additionally, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is leaving Chelsea, has been approached by Al-Ahli and Al-Shabab.

Despite his impending departure, Kante will leave Chelsea with a legendary status secured. He played a crucial role in helping the club win the Premier League title in his first season, as well as delivering a standout performance in the 2021 Champions League final, where Chelsea emerged victorious against Manchester City. Throughout his time at Stamford Bridge, Kante has also lifted the Europa League, FA Cup, European Super Cup, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the French national team.
