Victor Osimhen’s potential transfer to Chelsea and Ah Ahli are currently off according to multiple reports.
The Blues were in talks with the Nigerian striker up until transfer deadline day, but negotiations failed to materialize into a successful deal. This means that unless there is a significant and unforeseen change, Osimhen won’t be donning the Chelsea jersey this season.
It’s also been confirmed by several sources that the striker will remain at Napoli, as a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia has also fallen through. Al-Ahli, who were seriously pursuing the Serie A title winner, have ultimately decided to shift their focus elsewhere. Instead of securing Osimhen, they have opted to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in a deal reportedly worth £40 million.
This turn of events leaves Osimhen in a precarious situation. The striker might find himself on the sidelines for a considerable period, potentially not playing any football until January. With Romelu Lukaku now in Naples, the possibility of Osimhen being utilized in Antonio Conte’s plans looks increasingly slim. Conte has no intention of integrating the Nigerian into his current squad setup, which could lead to a challenging few months ahead for Osimhen.
This means Osimhen could play no football until January because Antonio Conte has no plans of playing the striker, with Romelu Lukaku now in Naples.
Meanwhile, on X, fans have urged the Nigerian striker to apologize to coach George Finidi, former Super Eagles manager who he had a fallout with.
One fan wrote, “I keep saying this till eternity, Osimhen needs to apologise on live to Finidi George. If not, he won’t progress in European football.
“It’s time for Napoli to treat him dirty. He brought this upon himself. He needs chelsea more than chelsea needs him. Boy, be humble, or you perish.”
Another wrote, “Na Oshimen rush go insult finidi George now see em career.”
The controversy began when Finidi was alleged to have questioned Osimhen’s commitment to the national team after the striker missed the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Benin Republic.
Osimhen on Instagram live bashed the gaffer, declaring his innocence in such claims.
“I asked Finidi George to allow me to stay with the players in the camp, but Finidi asked me not to bother, that I should stay with my family.
He added that he has lost his respect for the Nigerian football veteran and won’t tolerate derailing statement from anyone anymore.
