Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen will be departing from Manchester United at the conclusion of the current season, marking the end of his tenure with the club. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Eriksen’s contract will not be extended, meaning that he is set to become a free agent this summer.
Eriksen, who initially joined Manchester United on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 after a brief but successful spell with Brentford, has been a key figure in the team’s midfield. Throughout his time at the club, Eriksen has shown his class and skill, contributing to the team’s offensive and creative play. However, despite his positive impact, he has struggled to secure regular minutes this season, making only 13 appearances and failing to score any goals.
The 33-year-old’s time at Manchester United has been somewhat mixed. He started his career at the club on a strong note, but as the season progressed, his playing time gradually diminished. This has coincided with the emergence of younger talents in the team, which has made it more difficult for Eriksen to maintain a consistent place in the starting lineup.
This season, Eriksen’s availability has also been affected by illness. He was notably absent during Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at former club Spurs, a match in which his absence was felt. Speaking after the match, Amorim commented on the situation, saying, “I think Leny (Yoro) and Chris, they were sick. So they will recover. Of course, Chris has the heart situation and we have to be really careful with that.”

Fortunately, Eriksen made an incredible return to football after undergoing the procedure to have an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) fitted, allowing him to continue his professional career.
