The Brazilian Football Association (CBF) has confirmed that they are considering hiring Carlo Ancelotti as the next coach for the national team. Despite previous denials by Ancelotti and his current club, Real Madrid, there has been persistent speculation about the Italian's potential appointment since the departure of the previous Selecao coach, Tite, after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues confirmed their interest in Ancelotti, stating that he is "unanimously respected among players" and that he "needs no introductions" due to his many achievements as a top coach. Rodrigues also noted that Ancelotti is a fan favourite in Brazil and that supporters talk about him in an "affectionate way" due to his exemplary career. While Ancelotti's contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2024, the club's recent struggles in La Liga have put the coach under pressure. The CBF will continue to evaluate their options as they search for a new coach for the Brazilian national team.
