The Nigerian national team had arrived in Libya ahead of their scheduled match but has faced significant challenges as they have been stuck at the airport for several hours. Players and officials have reportedly not been allowed to leave the airport or access hotel accommodations, creating a distressing situation for the team.

The complications began when their plane was diverted to Al Abraq on Sunday night, leading to extensive delays for the players and coaching staff. This unexpected turn of events has raised concerns about their welfare and the handling of their arrival by the Libyan authorities.

Expressing his frustration over the ordeal, Osimhen took to Instagram to voice his disappointment, stating, “I am disappointed by the unfair treatment my brothers and coaches are facing at the Libya airport last night. Actions like this go against the spirit of sportsmanship.” His remarks reflect the deep sense of injustice felt by the team amidst the ongoing situation.

In light of these circumstances, the Super Eagles have reportedly resolved to boycott the game as a form of protest against their mistreatment. This decision underscores the seriousness of their grievances and the need for appropriate responses from governing bodies.

Osimhen further called upon CAF and other football organizations to intervene in this matter, stating that his teammates and officials remain stranded in conditions he describes as “uncalled for and inhumane.” The situation has gained attention, especially following several social media posts by other Nigerian players, including William Troost-Ekong and Victor Boniface, who have joined in condemning the actions of their rivals and expressing solidarity with the team.
