EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, made this announcement in Abuja on Friday, stating, “The school has refunded the entire $760,000 to the EFCC’s recovery account.”

Earlier, the American International School of Abuja had requested authentic banking details from the EFCC to facilitate the refund process for the fees paid for Bello's children.

The EFCC had accused Yahaya Bello of using Kogi State Government funds to pay $720,000 in advance for the education of his five children, ranging from Grade Levels 2 to 8 at the school.

This development came after EFCC operatives attempted to arrest Bello on April 17 over an alleged N80.2 billion fraud, with Kogi Governor, Usman Ododo, reportedly intervening to take Bello away from his residence during the siege.

In a letter addressed to the Lagos Zonal Commander of the EFCC, the school confirmed receiving a total of $845,852 in tuition fees since September 7, 2021.

After deducting the cost of educational services rendered, the school calculated the net amount to be refunded as $760,910, emphasizing that no further fees are expected for tuition as the students' fees have been settled until their graduation.

The school urged the EFCC to provide official written instructions along with authentic banking details for the refund, as part of the investigation into the alleged money laundering activities involving the Bello family.
