The Senate emphasizes the need for the installation of CCTV cameras along Abuja highways, urging the Police to allocate a three-digit emergency number for prompt response. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is directed to ensure functional dedicated emergency numbers for police, ambulance, and fire service.

These resolutions stem from a motion titled “Galadimawa kidnap incident response and need to urgently enhance security measures in FCT, Nigeria,” sponsored by Senator Ned Nwoko, PDP, North.

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, declares that the FCT Minister and Police Commissioner will meet the Senate in a closed-door session on a date specified in the letter of summons to be sent by the Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze.

Senator Akpabio emphasizes the importance of hearing from them about the measures and strategies in place to address the rising tide of kidnappings not only in FCT but across Nigeria.

In an earlier presentation, Senator Ned Nwoko notes the Senate's past resolution on fortifying security in the FCT following the abduction of 19 individuals, including his Senior Legislative Aide, Barrister Chris Agidy, in Galadimawa, Abuja.

The motion acknowledges the successful operation by the FCT Police Command, which led to the apprehension of Samaila Wakili Fafa, a notorious kidnap kingpin responsible for various kidnappings in the FCT and its surroundings.

However, the gravity of the situation is compounded by the revelation of the untimely demise of Barrister Agidy and others at the hands of these abductors, with their remains recovered and deposited at Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital for medical assessment.

Senator Nwoko commends the dedication and determination of the Police force, including the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth C. Igweh, and other officers involved in pursuing the kidnappers.
