Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the restoration of the Warri Refinery, describing it as a landmark achievement in the country’s petroleum sector.
According to reports, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group CEO, Mele Kyari, recently announced that the Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Company (WRPC) located in Delta State has resumed production at a capacity of 125,000 barrels per day. This development is seen as a significant step forward in addressing Nigeria’s longstanding challenges in the oil and gas industry.
In a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the NNPCL for their dedication and commitment to revamping the refinery. The governor lauded President Tinubu’s reforms in the petroleum sector, noting that these changes are fostering economic growth, job creation, and progress for the nation. He further urged Nigerians to support the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda to enable the full realization of these reforms.
Governor Okpebholo remarked, “The restoration of the Warri Refinery is a monumental milestone for Nigeria’s petroleum sector and the broader economy. With the Warri, Port Harcourt, and Dangote refineries all operating simultaneously, there is renewed optimism that the sector is on the cusp of a significant transformation. These developments signal a brighter future for Nigeria as a hub for crude oil refining in Africa.”
He continued, “I want to join millions of Nigerians in congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the NNPCL leadership under the capable guidance of Mele Kyari for successfully reviving the Warri Refinery. This achievement is, without doubt, a New Year gift to Nigerians, bringing hope and promise of better days ahead.”
Governor Okpebholo reiterated Edo State’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts, stating, “Edo State will continue to champion and support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government. We remain steadfast in our collective mission to restore Nigeria’s national pride and establish our country as a leading force in the global oil refining industry.”
