Two Nigerian women, Adaeze Jaye, 43, and Success Chamika, 23, were apprehended by the Pushkar police in the state of Rajasthan, India, on Friday, October 27, 2023. They were caught in possession of drugs.
The two individuals were discovered with drugs having an estimated value exceeding N63 million.
The arrests stemmed from a meticulously executed operation carried out by law enforcement authorities. They managed to confiscate a total of 65 grams of Mephedrone (MD), a potent synthetic drug with stimulant and psychoactive properties. The seized drugs were accompanied by a substantial amount of cash, totaling Rs 65,000.
In addition to the drugs and cash, the authorities also seized a digital weighing machine from the accused. This discovery strongly suggests their involvement in the distribution of narcotics.
According to the police, the approximate value of the confiscated narcotics is around Rs 6 lakh. It's important to note that Mephedrone, also known as MD or "Meow Meow," is recognized as a controlled substance in many countries, including India, due to its psychoactive and stimulant effects.
The station in-charge of Pushkar police, Rakesh Yadav, has confirmed the registration of a case against both Adaeze Jaye and Success Chamika under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. An investigation into their alleged involvement in drug trafficking is already underway.
