Dele Momodu, a former presidential aspirant of the PDP, has accused Nyesom Wike of being disloyal to the party. He claims that even though Wike is working under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as the FCT minister, Tinubu’s camp doesn’t trust him.
Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State, supported Tinubu from the APC in the 2023 presidential election. This decision was influenced by a disagreement with the PDP leadership regarding their choice of Atiku Abubakar, a candidate from the northern region, as the party’s flagbearer for the election.
He was later appointed FCT Minister but has yet to leave the PDP. The party has not sanctioned him despite calls for such.
But Momodu, a publisher, berated Wike for his stance and accused him of trying to destroy the PDP.
“Wike feels he is fooling Tinubu and his people. But Tinubu’s people know him very well,” he said on Tuesday’s edition of Channels Television’s breakfast show Sunrise Daily.
“There is no Nigerian today who does not know that Wike cannot be trusted in any matter especially if it affects his interest in power. For him, power is everything. Money is everything.”
While there were efforts to reconcile Wike and the PDP, that did not happen. The FCT minister’s fallout with the party led to the PDP losing the presidential election in Rivers State to the APC.
But Momodu believes Wike took the matter too far by working against the PDP.
“What a man should know is that when you cut your nose, thinking you want to spit your face, you would look awkward,” he said.
He, however, noted: “We have left him and we are watching him”.
Momodu made it clear that if he had the authority, he would have taken action against Wike. He believes that the PDP should also take action against the minister to ensure the party’s stability.
