Timipre Sylva, who recently served as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has emerged as the winner of the Bayelsa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary held on Friday. The announcement was made by A.T. Jibrin, the chairman of the election committee, at the APC State Secretariat in Yenagoa.
Sylva defeated five other contestants, including Joshua Machiver, Festus Danumiebi, Maureen Etebu, David Lyon, and Isikima Johnson, with a total of 52,061 votes. The committee chairman expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of the primary election. In his acceptance speech, Timipre Sylva, a former governor [/b]of the state, called for the support of his fellow contestants to ensure victory for the APC. Represented by Sunny Goli, a member of the House of Representatives, he said, “Lets us work together as a family to win the Bayelsa governorship election on Nov. 11, 2023.”
