The Kwara State Police Command has successfully apprehended multiple suspects in connection with the tragic murder of Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old final-year student from the Kwara State College of Health Technology.
According to a report by Gist Reel, Mojisola’s lifeless body was discovered on August 11, 2024, at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin.
The shocking discovery was made by Mr. Olorunoje, a local resident, who came across the body while returning from the mosque.
In a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, it was revealed that a missing persons report had been filed on August 13, 2024, by Miss Blessing O., a resident of Gbomi’s area in Offa, Kwara State.
Miss Blessing reported that her roommate, Mojisola, had been missing since August 9, 2024, after the last contact she had was following a phone call from Timileyin, who had introduced Mojisola to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student from Summit University.
Mojisola.[/figure]Happiness had reportedly invited Mojisola to a night party under the pretense of hiring her as his girlfriend for a fee of fifteen thousand naira (#15,000.00).
Upon arriving in Ilorin, Mojisola expressed her discomfort about the situation, mentioning that the party did not seem to be taking place as promised. Shortly thereafter, her phone went silent, and all attempts by Miss Blessing to reach her proved unsuccessful.
The police became involved on August 12, 2024, after the body of an unidentified female was discovered at the refuse dump, prompting a case of culpable homicide to be reported.
Detectives arrived at the scene and conducted an examination, finding traces of blood near the victim’s ear. The body was subsequently transported to the General Hospital in Ilorin, where it was later identified as that of Mojisola.
Since the discovery, the Kwara State Police Command has arrested several suspects believed to be connected to the case. The investigation has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to ensure a thorough and comprehensive investigation.
Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya has vowed to uncover the truth surrounding Mojisola’s death and has assured the public that those responsible will face justice.
