Soldiers destroy IPOB's 'supreme headquarters' in Imo, causing unrest in the camp

The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a raid, resulting in the destruction of the supreme headquarters of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Mother Valley, Orsu council area of Imo.

The Force Commander, Joint Task Force South-East, Operation Udo Ka, Maj.-Gen. Hassan Dada, disclosed this while addressing newsmen at Eke Ututu, Orsu Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo on Friday.

Operation Udo Ka, initiated on February 11, 2024, involved troops from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The commander reported that the troops successfully cleared and liberated towns in Imo and Anambra during the operation.

The headquarters, located in Mother Valley spanning Orsu and Ihiala LGAs of Imo and Anambra, served as the last stronghold for IPOB.

“It is about 5,000 feet below sea level,” Dada disclosed.

During the raid, the troops encountered and neutralized terrorists, recovered many Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and cleared various obstacles.

Items recovered included weapons, equipment, IEDs, stolen vehicles, firearms, ammunition, electronics, and Biafra Liberation Army uniforms.

“The joint troops also destroyed about 50 tents in the valley housing the Supreme Headquarters, IPOB/ESN command and control centre, Buteuzor’s hideout and residence, offices, their logistics base, temples, and shrines used for occultic practices, among many other items,” he said.
