Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has officially taken legal action against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, filing a defamation lawsuit over alleged derogatory statements made about her.
The lawsuit, which was submitted at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, outlines claims that remarks shared on the Facebook page of a user with the handle “Patrick” suggested that Senator Natasha prioritizes makeup and wearing transparent outfits over her legislative responsibilities.
According to her legal representatives, these statements have been described as false, defamatory, and damaging to her public image and professional reputation as a lawmaker.
As part of her legal demands, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is seeking a judicial declaration that the alleged statements are defamatory. She has also requested an injunction to prevent further publications of similar nature, alongside a ₦100 billion compensation for damages caused to her reputation. Additionally, she is demanding ₦300 million to cover litigation expenses incurred due to the case.
This legal action comes just days after a viral video surfaced online, showing an intense moment where Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordered the removal of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Senate chambers. The incident escalated into a heated altercation, drawing widespread public attention and media discussions.
Following the clash in the Senate chamber, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has since been referred to the Senate Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and possible sanctions regarding her conduct in the legislative house.
