PSC approves promotion of 100+ senior police officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially approved the promotion of more than 100 senior officers to higher ranks within the Nigeria Police Force.

  

According to reports, the Commission elevated 38 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and also promoted 100 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP) to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP).

  

The approval for these promotions was made during an extraordinary plenary session held at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Thursday, February 20, 2025. This crucial meeting was presided over by the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), and was attended by other notable commissioners, including Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (rtd.), who represents the Judiciary; DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd.), the Commissioner representing the Police; and Chief Onyemuchi Nnamani, the Secretary to the Commission.

  

The list of promoted officers includes prominent names such as Emmanuel Deenom, Olufemi Takeet, Yusuf Doki Sani, Joseph Habakkuk Anche, Faruku Umaru, Danladi Daura, Benedict Omotomilola Olomo, Bernard Adedayo Ojewale, Aminudeen Mohammed, and Mohammed Lawal Bello, among others, who have now been elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP).

  

Additionally, the newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) include distinguished officers such as Ibrahim Mohammed Agava, Akinloye Joseph Oyegade, Rilwanu Mohammed Dutse, Ibrahim Aliyu Jauro, and Abdulmajid Isah.

  

Notably, several officers who have played critical roles in maintaining law and order across various regions were also promoted. Among them are Godfrey Ogbeide Victor, former DPO of Utako, FCT, who now serves as Commander of the Scorpion Squad in Abattoir, FCT; Banawi Ishiaku, DPO Otu Jeremi, Ughelli South, Delta State; Abbas Abubakar, DPO Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom; and Celestine Tochukwu Umeh, who were all elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

  

In his official statement, Chairman DIG Argungu commended the officers for their dedication and hard work. He encouraged them to continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their service to the nation, emphasizing the importance of their roles in ensuring national security and public safety.
