The Rivers State Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals accused of posing as pastors in Rivers State.

The suspects, identified as Umoren Bassey and Elijah Aniete, were apprehended by youths from the Rumunduru community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, who took immediate action after reportedly catching the men engaging in suspicious activities.

According to the Rivers State Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe Koko, the youths noticed the men's unusual behavior and promptly alerted the authorities, leading to their arrest. Upon further investigation, several items were recovered from the suspects, including a cartridge, a sword, a fake naval passport, multiple photographs of unidentified people, a child’s shoe, a police lanyard, several crosses, and various spiritual materials.

SP Koko also clarified that contrary to early rumors circulating on social media, no live python or human skulls were found in possession of the suspects, debunking the exaggerated claims that initially surrounded the case.
