Peculiar, the young girl who had been accused of using pepper soup to cause the death of her boyfriend and his friends, has been found innocent of all charges related to the incident.
A video that has been circulating on X, formerly Twitter, shows Peculiar speaking out to clear her name, vehemently denying any involvement in their passing. In the video, she maintains that the tragic deaths were the result of generator fumes and not any form of poisoning, as was initially claimed.
According to Peculiar, one of the victims, her late boyfriend’s best friend, had previously placed a ₦500,000 bounty on her, accusing her of poisoning them. She revealed that this individual had even gone as far as posting about the bounty on social media, which was later screenshotted and shown to her by a friend. Peculiar further explained that while on her way to the police station to report this accusation, the same individual, along with his friends, had blocked her path and threatened to kill her, continuing to insist that she was the one who had prepared the pepper soup.
In her emotional recounting of the events, Peculiar detailed the harassment and intimidation she faced following the false accusations. She expressed how the situation escalated and how she became the target of unjust blame, even though she had no part in the deaths of her boyfriend and his friends.
An activist who was involved in the investigation later shared some of the findings from the case, revealing that due to Peculiar’s young age, she was not taken into police custody but instead placed in welfare custody. One of the victim’s fathers even provided an alibi, confirming that Peculiar had never visited their house on the day of the incident. This further supported Peculiar’s innocence, as there was no direct connection between her and the tragic event.
