Okeke made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, where he also extended his criticisms to the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

According to Okeke, both Buhari and Tinubu are responsible for the regression of the nation, stating that the 2023 elections should have been an easy win for the PDP. He blamed his party’s loss on internal issues but emphasized that Nigerians were increasingly disillusioned with the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of offering no real solutions to the country’s problems.

Speaking about the state of the nation, Okeke remarked, “In law, we say you cannot build something on nothing.” He added that the Buhari administration had set the country back by about 50 years, and now, according to him, the Tinubu administration was poised to take the nation another 100 years backward. He expressed his belief that the 2023 election should have been a walkover for the PDP, as Nigerians had endured eight years of what he termed “disastrous governance” under Buhari, making them disillusioned with the APC’s promises which, in his view, had turned out to be empty.

Despite these criticisms, President Tinubu has continuously reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians. Following his attendance at Jummat prayers on Friday in Lagos Island, the President expressed gratitude to the supporters who came out to greet him. In a brief message shared on his official X account, Tinubu reaffirmed his dedication to building a brighter future for the country, signaling his intent to tackle the nation’s challenges.
