The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has issued a warning to Nigerians, urging them to be cautious of potential fire outbreaks across the country. Pastor Adeboye shared this warning during the church's February thanksgiving service held on Sunday, where he also discussed various potential disasters that could pose a risk to the nation.
During his sermon, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the importance of being vigilant and prayerful, particularly in the face of looming natural calamities such as storms and floods, which could have devastating effects on the environment and the well-being of citizens. His warning regarding fire outbreaks was delivered with urgency, as he highlighted the alarming increase in such incidents around the world, including Nigeria. The cleric urged people to be proactive in preventing fire-related disasters, stating that negligence and carelessness could lead to severe consequences for individuals and entire communities.
In particular, Pastor Adeboye advised farmers, who are currently preparing their lands for the upcoming cultivation season, to avoid bush burning, which is a common practice in some rural areas. He stressed that while this practice might seem harmless, it could easily escalate into a major fire outbreak if not carefully controlled. He warned farmers not to underestimate the risks associated with naked fire, urging them to be cautious in their activities and to avoid any actions that could lead to an uncontrollable blaze.
Speaking on the broader issue of fire outbreaks, Pastor Adeboye reminded the congregation that one of the key prophecies for the year was to pray against fire outbreaks, storms, and floods. Reflecting on the first month of the year, he noted that the world had already experienced a significant number of fire incidents, reinforcing the importance of collective prayer and divine intervention in averting disasters. He reiterated that Nigeria, like the rest of the world, was not immune to such disasters, and therefore, it was crucial for citizens to remain prayerful and heed the warnings being issued.
Pastor Adeboye concluded his message by urging the congregation and Nigerians in general to take all necessary precautions and be mindful of their surroundings, particularly when dealing with sources of naked fire. He expressed hope that through prayer and vigilance, the nation would be spared from devastating fire outbreaks and other natural disasters in the coming months. "Don’t joke with any form of naked fire around you, and farmers, please don’t burn bushes while preparing your farms," he said. "Don’t say I didn’t tell you. May the Almighty God answer our prayers and grant our requests." The statement was a heartfelt plea for divine protection and guidance in the face of potential dangers.
