The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has cast his vote in the ongoing Ondo State governorship election, marking a significant moment in the electoral process. Tunji-Ojo, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government, participated in the voting exercise at Unit 17, Ward 3, Okeagbe Local Government Area of Ondo State.
After casting his vote, Tunji-Ojo shared his thoughts on the peaceful nature of the election process, commending the strong voter turnout and the professional conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff. He expressed his satisfaction with the overall smooth operation of the polling stations, emphasizing that the electoral officials displayed a high level of professionalism throughout the voting process.
“At exactly 11:34 AM, I cast my vote at Unit 17, Ward 3, Okeagbe Local Government Area of Ondo State, in the #Ondo2024 Governorship Election. It’s been a peaceful election with officials displaying high levels of professionalism coupled with an encouraging turnout of voters,” Tunji-Ojo said, highlighting the calm and orderly atmosphere surrounding the election. He also acknowledged the importance of voter participation in shaping the future of the state.
As part of his continued support for the APC candidate in the race, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Tunji-Ojo took to his X handle, urging the people of Ondo State to cast their votes in favor of Aiyedatiwa. He emphasized that Aiyedatiwa's victory would guarantee the continuation of the developmental programs that have been vital in moving the state forward. He expressed confidence that the Governor’s re-election would result in even more progress for the people of Ondo.
“We strongly believe that continuity in government will help us build a brighter future for all. Together, we’ll lead our state to prosperity. For a landslide victory at the polls, I earnestly believe that each home is a building block, as each community is our pillar of success,” Tunji-Ojo wrote, stressing the collective effort needed to ensure the future success of the state under Aiyedatiwa's leadership.
In his call to action, Tunji-Ojo also encouraged the people of Ondo to actively support Governor Aiyedatiwa, sharing his confidence that the APC candidate would secure victory in the election. He expressed his unwavering support for Aiyedatiwa's candidacy, stating, “With this unalloyed support, I am confident of victory for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on November 16, 2024.”
Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), urged the youth of Ondo State to avoid any form of electoral violence, stressing the importance of maintaining peace during the election period.
