The Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG), Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi, widely known as Tukana, has sadly passed away, leaving the entire state in mourning.

According to reports, Oluwatuyi passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in an undisclosed hospital where he had been receiving treatment following a tragic road accident.

While the precise circumstances surrounding his passing remain unclear, it was disclosed that he had been involved in a severe car accident on December 19, 2024, along the Ife-Ibadan Road. The incident led to his hospitalization and ultimately his demise.

The Ondo State Government officially confirmed the unfortunate news through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Wale Akinlosotu, who described Oluwatuyi as an exceptional public servant whose legacy will be remembered for years to come.

“It is with profound sadness that the Government of Ondo State announces the passing of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, Secretary to the State Government, on January 4, 2025,” the statement read.

Further elaborating on his life and contributions, the statement noted, “Hon. Oluwatuyi was involved in a serious car accident on December 15, 2024, while traveling to Ibadan and had been hospitalized since then. He was a dedicated public servant whose exceptional contributions to administrative coordination, policy advisory, and implementation left a lasting impact on Ondo State.”

Oluwatuyi’s career in public service was marked by significant achievements and dedication to the betterment of Ondo State. The statement highlighted his various roles, including his time as Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Commissioner, and his service as Secretary to the State Government in two different administrations.

“He served with distinction and worked closely with the Governor and other top officials to advance the state’s progress. Hon. Oluwatuyi will forever be remembered for his invaluable contributions to the development of Ondo State,” Akinlosotu added in the statement.

The Ondo State Government expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Oluwatuyi family, his friends, colleagues, and associates during this challenging time of grief. His passing has undoubtedly left a void in the hearts of many who knew him and admired his work.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who had appointed Oluwatuyi as the Secretary to the State Government on January 24, 2024, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
