Brigadier General Ahmed made this important announcement while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State. During his speech, he also provided assurances that corps members will no longer be deployed to communities experiencing security threats. This move, he emphasized, is part of the NYSC’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants in the national service scheme.

He reassured corps members that their welfare and security remain top priorities for the NYSC, and necessary measures are being put in place to guarantee their protection throughout their service year.

Speaking further on the allowance increment, the NYSC DG explained that the revised figure has already been included in the 2025 Federal Government budget. Once the budget is approved, corps members across the country will begin receiving the updated payments without delay.

Addressing the issue of security, Brigadier General Ahmed stated: “We will not send our corps members to areas where there are security challenges or threats. Wherever we deploy them, they should be assured that the location is safe and secured for them to serve their nation without fear.”

He continued, “This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), all corps members will start receiving ₦77,000 instead of the previous ₦33,000. This increase has been officially approved by the Federal Government, and it is expected that corps members will reciprocate the government’s gesture by demonstrating dedication and commitment throughout their service year.”

Additionally, Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized that beyond the increase in allowances, the NYSC will take all necessary steps to ensure that corps members are deployed only to safe and secure locations, reinforcing the scheme’s commitment to their safety, security, and overall welfare.
