The newly appointed Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi, has made a bold pledge to ensure that Kano State is firmly in the grasp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2027 General Elections. This declaration was made while he addressed journalists following his arrival in Kano on Sunday, where he also affirmed his unwavering commitment to advancing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Abdullahi, emphasizing the significance of his role, expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for the appointment and vowed to fully align his ministry’s efforts with the goals set forth in the renewed hope housing initiative. He assured that he would work tirelessly to push the agenda forward, making housing accessible and advancing urban development in a manner that reflects Tinubu’s vision for the nation.
The minister expressed particular determination to see Kano State return as an APC stronghold, reiterating that he would leverage his position to strategically mobilize political efforts in the state. He highlighted his extensive experience in government as a vital asset in achieving this goal.
“This appointment is for the citizens of Kano State and Nigeria,” Abdullahi remarked. He continued, “I assure the President that, God willing, Kano State will return to being an APC stronghold in 2027. My appointment represents the political significance of Kano Central, a region with an impressive voter base.”
Abdullahi made it clear that he intends to stay closely connected to the grassroots level, affirming his dedication to his constituency, ward, and community as a means to fortify the APC’s political influence. “I will continue to be present in my ward and constituency to strengthen our political base,” he explained, demonstrating his commitment to working from the ground up to achieve APC’s objectives.
Reflecting on the importance of continuity in government projects, he assured citizens of Kano and Nigeria that he would see through the completion of ongoing projects related to the Renewed Hope Agenda, placing emphasis on the housing and urban development projects under his ministry.
Abdullahi’s confidence in fulfilling these commitments is rooted in his extensive background in politics, notably his past roles as Speaker and Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly. He also served as a Special Adviser to the Governor, equipping him with unique insights into both governance and the needs of Kano’s people.
“Kano Central has the highest voter turnout in the state. It accounts for a substantial 65% of registered voters, yet until now, has lacked significant representation at the federal level,” Abdullahi noted. “But today, with the president’s appointment of me to this role, we are ready to mobilize and reaffirm Kano as an APC stronghold.”
The minister went on to recount his longstanding political experience, stating, “I have been a representative in the State House of Assembly since 1999. Over the years, I’ve held several positions, including Speaker, Majority Leader, and Special Adviser to the Governor. With this experience, we have every confidence in our ability to secure Kano State for APC in the next general elections.”
