MTN has issued a terse statement apologizing for the network problems experienced by subscribers on Saturday.
Users on the telecommunication network began to have issues with calls and date from around 2:30pm.
MTN had failed to give customers a heads-up about the situation, leading to a blackout and outrage on social media.
Reacting, MTN which has over 77.35 million subscribers in the country, said it is working towards restoring normalcy in the affected areas.
In a post on its Facebook page, MTN apologized to customers experiencing the challenge, saying it was aware of the development.
