Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has unveiled a series of strategic appointments aimed at bolstering governance and advancing infrastructural development within the state. The announcement underscores the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises to the people of Kano State.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, January 5, by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the appointments were described as crucial to achieving the administration’s goals. The statement highlighted the immediate effectiveness of the appointments and emphasized the Governor’s dedication to fostering progress and efficiency in the state.
Among the notable appointees is Ahmad Muhammad Speaker, who has been named Special Adviser on Publicity. Speaker’s extensive political background includes three terms as Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government and service as the APC State Organizing Secretary. His deep understanding of grassroots politics and public relations is expected to enhance the administration’s communication strategies.
Another significant appointment is that of Engr. Ahmad, who will serve as Special Adviser on Works. His role will be pivotal in driving infrastructure projects across the state, reflecting the administration’s focus on addressing the state’s developmental challenges and improving the standard of living for its residents.
Furthermore, Malam Sani Abdullahi Tofa has been appointed Special Adviser on Special Duties. Tofa is a seasoned administrator with a rich history of service, including his tenure as a retired Permanent Secretary, former Director General of the Kano State Shari’a Commission, and Khadi in Kano and Abuja’s Sharia Courts. His expertise will be instrumental in handling sensitive and specialized projects within the administration.
The Governor has also appointed Hon. Ibrahim Jibrin Fagge as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission. His experience as a former Commissioner for Finance will bring financial discipline and effective governance to the commission. Similarly, Hajia Ladidi Ibrahim Garko, a former Commissioner for Tourism, will head the Kano State Civil Service Commission, where her leadership is expected to drive reforms and improve civil service efficiency.
As part of these developments, the Governor is scheduled to oversee a swearing-in ceremony on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Ante-Chamber of the Kano Government House. The event will feature the inauguration of seven commissioner nominees recently approved by the Kano State House of Assembly alongside the newly appointed Special Advisers. This ceremony marks a critical step in strengthening the administrative framework of Kano State and ensuring the successful implementation of the government’s policies and programs.
