Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken a bold step in reshaping his administration by dismissing key officials, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Bichi, his Chief of Staff, Hon. Shehu Wada Sagagi, and five commissioners. This decision is seen as part of a significant cabinet reshuffle aimed at improving the performance and efficiency of the state government.
The announcement of these changes was made public during a press briefing on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa. He highlighted that the reshuffle is intended to enhance governance, streamline administrative processes, and better align the government’s priorities with the aspirations and needs of the people of Kano State.
This decision marks a turning point in the administration, with Governor Yusuf emphasizing his commitment to strengthening his cabinet for effective service delivery. According to him, “This marks the first major reorganization of my cabinet, effective immediately. The decision is intended to boost administrative performance and align the government’s priorities more closely with the needs of Kano residents.”
[/p]Reports indicate that the office of the Chief of Staff has been abolished, while the SSG, Dr. Abdullahi Bichi, was relieved of his duties due to health-related reasons. The Governor has directed the dismissed officials, including the former Chief of Staff, to report to his office for potential reassignment.
In addition to dismissals, several commissioners had their portfolios reassigned to ensure a more strategic distribution of responsibilities. This reshuffle reflects the administration's intention to leverage the strengths of its cabinet members in addressing the challenges facing Kano State.
