A former Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, Abba Sani Abbas, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
According to reports, Abbas, who was recently dismissed alongside five other commissioners by the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has made the decision to switch his political allegiance and join the All Progressives Congress (APC). This move comes after his removal from office, signaling a significant shift in his political career. Abbas was warmly received into the APC fold by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who formally welcomed him into the party.

During the welcoming ceremony, which was captured in a video released by the media office of the Deputy Senate President, Abbas was seen symbolically removing the red cap associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement, a prominent symbol of the NNPP, and replacing it with a different cap. This gesture marked his formal switch in allegiance and symbolized his departure from the NNPP and his entry into the APC.
