The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the schedule and details for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), outlining key dates and requirements for prospective candidates.
According to a statement released on Monday by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the sale of UTME application forms will commence on January 31, 2025, and will close on March 5, 2025. This timeline provides candidates with over a month to register for the examination.
Additionally, the sale of application documents and e-PINs for Direct Entry (DE) candidates is scheduled to begin on March 10, 2025, and will end on April 7, 2025, catering to those seeking admission through direct entry routes.
As part of the preparatory process, the Mock-UTME has been scheduled to hold on April 5, 2025. This mock examination allows candidates to familiarize themselves with the test environment. Following this, the main UTME will take place over a 10-day period, from April 25 to May 5, 2025.
Regarding fees, candidates registering for both the UTME and the mock examination will be required to pay a total of ₦8,200, while those opting to sit only for the UTME will pay ₦7,200.
The breakdown of the application fees is as follows:
₦3,500 for the application form₦1,000 for the reading text
₦700 for CBT Centre registration
₦1,500 for CBT Centre UTME services
₦1,500 for CBT mock services
₦500 for bank charges
₦1,500 for the CBT mock-UTME centre
In a significant development, Prof. Oloyede also unveiled the introduction of a special mock UTME for candidates under 16 years old. This initiative is aimed at helping younger candidates assess their academic capabilities and preparedness for future examinations. It is important to note that this mock examination is strictly for evaluation purposes and will not be used for admission decisions.
Eligibility criteria for admission into tertiary institutions mandate that candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2025. However, exceptional candidates who are under the age of 15 may be considered for admission if they meet the following conditions: they must achieve a minimum score of 280 in the UTME, excel in their Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE), and perform outstandingly in their post-UTME tests.
This year’s examination structure reaffirms JAMB’s commitment to maintaining a standardized process for admissions into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions while addressing the diverse needs of candidates, including younger applicants.
