Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has officially signed the ₦955 billion 2025 budget into law, emphasizing its focus on consolidating existing projects and expanding development across the state.

The budget, titled the Budget of Consolidation and Expansion, aligns with the governor’s ARISE Agenda project, which prioritizes job creation, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and economic growth. Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the effective and transparent implementation of the budget to ensure impactful governance for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday at the State Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Uyo. It was witnessed by key government stakeholders, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, members of the State Executive Council, top government officials, and legislators. The event highlighted the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches of government.

During his speech, Governor Umo Eno commended the State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the budget, which he described as a testament to their dedication to the state’s progress. He called for sustained collaboration between the executive and legislative arms to deliver democratic dividends and ensure the success of various development initiatives.

The State House of Assembly had earlier passed the budget on December 24, following a thorough review of the proposal. The adoption of the report was presented by Dr. Itoro Etim, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance. After extensive deliberations in a Committee of the Whole, the budget was passed into law, signifying a unified commitment to the state’s advancement.

The approved 2025 budget allocates ₦300 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦655 billion for capital projects, reflecting the administration’s emphasis on infrastructure development and long-term growth. This budget represents a 3% increase from the ₦923.412 billion revised budget of 2024, underscoring the government’s intent to scale up its developmental efforts.

Governor Umo Eno assured citizens that the funds would be judiciously utilized to address critical sectors, including road construction, housing, industrialization, healthcare delivery, and youth empowerment. He also highlighted the need for continued stakeholder support to realize the state’s vision for sustainable growth and prosperity.
