Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has publicly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his dedication to upholding the principles of democracy and the rule of law, particularly in relation to the recently conducted local government elections in Osun State.

Addressing journalists in his hometown of Ede on Saturday, Governor Adeleke expressed his gratitude for the federal government’s commitment to due process. He also took the opportunity to set the record straight regarding claims that he had made negative remarks about President Tinubu.

He categorically denied any such statements, saying:

“At no point did I make any negative comments about Mr. President. Any reports circulating in the media claiming otherwise are entirely false. These are fabricated stories designed to mislead the public.”

The governor further emphasized his dedication to fostering a strong and cooperative relationship between Osun State and the federal government, adding:

“I have remained supportive and committed to working collaboratively with the federal administration to ensure the progress of our people. My previous statements and official broadcasts have never included any attacks or criticisms directed at President Tinubu.”

He urged citizens, media platforms, and stakeholders to disregard the misleading reports, reiterating his stance that he had not, at any point, spoken against the president before or during the ongoing local government elections.

Speaking on the conduct of the election, Governor Adeleke lauded the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for ensuring a smooth and transparent voting process. He described the election as well-organized and seamless, commending the efforts of electoral officials and security agencies in maintaining order throughout the exercise.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, also shared his observations on the election process. Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, he praised the people of Osun for turning out in large numbers to exercise their democratic rights.

“I want to commend the electorate for their enthusiastic participation. Their commitment to democracy is evident in their turnout,” Igbalaye stated.

He went on to commend OSSIEC for their role in organizing a peaceful and credible election, expressing confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would emerge victorious once the results were announced.

The local government elections in Osun State have continued to garner attention as political parties and stakeholders await the final results, with many expressing satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
