A tragic boat accident in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has resulted in the death of five people, with twenty others still missing. The incident was confirmed by Edafe Bright, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, in a statement released to the press.
Bright further revealed that six individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident, and they are currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Warri.
The boat accident occurred when two speedboats, carrying family members returning from a ceremony, collided with one another. The impact of the crash caused the boats to capsize, throwing passengers, many of whom were not wearing life jackets, into the water.
