The Federal Government has reassured Nigerians of its commitment to achieving maximum food security, despite the ongoing challenges the country is facing. This assurance was provided by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Abdullahi, during an interview on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily on Monday.

Abdullahi emphasized that ensuring food security has been prioritized by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since the beginning of his administration. He explained that food security is vital not only for the nation’s stability but also for its economic prosperity, with a particular focus on poverty alleviation and providing solutions to Nigeria’s food-related challenges.

The Minister highlighted that various programs have been rolled out by the government since President Tinubu's inauguration in May 2023 to address the issue. He noted that the President's vision is to elevate Nigeria to a point where no Nigerian goes to bed hungry, which aligns with his broader plan under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to Abdullahi, the government’s initiatives in the agriculture sector aim to stabilize food production, improve local food availability, and foster gender inclusivity within the industry. He shared that President Tinubu has frequently expressed his deep concern over the country’s food security situation and has continuously stressed that no one should have to suffer hunger in Nigeria. The Minister confirmed that the government is working tirelessly to achieve this goal and improve the overall food security situation in the country.
