FEC grants citizenship to 385 people

The Federal [/b]Executive Council, also known as FEC, which is the highest decision-making body in Nigeria with regards to matters of the executive branch of government, has announced that it has approved the granting of Nigerian citizenship to a total of 385 applicants. The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, revealed this information during a press briefing in the nation's capital, Abuja on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

According to Aregbesola, the categories of citizenship granted to the applicants by the Federal Executive Council include naturalization and registration. In specific terms, he stated that "FEC today approved the granting of Nigerian citizenship by naturalization to 317 applicants and Nigerian citizenship by registration to 68 applicants."

Furthermore, Aregbesola emphasized that the applicants were only granted citizenship after meeting all the constitutional and administrative requirements that are necessary for the grant of Nigerian citizenship.

Apart from the approval of citizenship applications, the council also approved the full business case for a project on National Fire Detection and Alarm System which incorporates a life safety system, networking, monitoring, and dispersion in real-time.
