An officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, identified as Polycarp, has been officially declared wanted after absconding with $30,000 in cash along with other high-value items in Kaduna.

Polycarp, who was stationed at the EFCC's Kaduna zonal office, was entrusted with the responsibility of managing the exhibits stored at the office. His role was crucial in safeguarding these materials, which are often related to ongoing investigations and legal proceedings.

Although the EFCC has not released a comprehensive statement on the incident, reports have revealed that the stolen items include gold bars valued at over N1 billion, $180,000 in cash, and £140,000 in cash. These assets were critical to various cases being handled by the Commission.

Polycarp reportedly disappeared after failing to provide a clear explanation regarding the missing $30,000, raising suspicions of foul play. The incident has sparked a full-scale investigation as authorities work to apprehend him and recover the stolen assets.

This development comes in the wake of another controversy involving the agency, where 10 EFCC officers in Lagos were detained for failing to account for missing operational items. These incidents have raised questions about internal accountability and operational transparency within the organization.
